Today on At Home with Flowers- I’m arranging Red Carnations in a pressed ruby glass vase with Carnation Accents. The Bowl was a gift from my Friend Jan Clark- she’s been an amazing fan- and even more wonderful Friend- and she sent me this special container for my Birthday this year.
“Goofus Glass”- Goofus glass is pressed glass which was decorated with cold, unfired paint in the early 20th century in America by several prominent glass factories. Because it was mass produced and relatively cheap, it was given as premiums with purchases and awarded as prizes at fairs. This container is most likely circa 1920’s… and I adore it- Just like I adore Jan Clark for sending it to me.
It’s the perfect container for creating a centerpiece that we can use on our coffee table, dining table or just about anywhere around the house. I using the NEW Midnight Foam from Oasis- it’s biodegradable – and I’m using to Fabulous Foliage components from FernTrust… Variegated Pittosporum and Xanadu… the Pitt is fragrant… and the Xanadu is part of the Philodendron Family- it’s Monstera’s little cousin…
Using 15 Carnations- and greening my arrangement first- makes this a Fast and Easy solution- and with a little practice anyone can look like a pro- and whip up an arrangement in 5 minutes… you can also use other flowers- Roses, Tulips, Zinnias, Dahlias- all would be great options… I hope you enjoy this wonderful arrangement with my Signature Flower- the Red Carnation!
