Today on At Home with Flowers- I’m creating a simple arrangement- that looks a bit complex- because of the treatment- I’m doing to the 3 vases- that will hold the flowers. Many years ago- my friend Patty Santee AIFD- taught me a trick for combining three vases together- It’s important that the vases have a taper at the neck- for this trick. Now I’m going to go back in time – historically- for a TV Reference of a show I loved as a kid- Gilliagan’s Island- featuring some of my favorite TV Characters- Gilligan, the Skipper, A Millionaire and his wife- A Movie Star- the Professor and Maryann… they were stranded on a desert island- and they had to make do- creating all sorts of inventions and things on the island- that they usually created with Bamboo and Raffia…
Enter my friend Patty- with her brilliant Gilligan’s Island Vase Treatment… using branch material of any type- and craft wire- You bind the branches around the necks of the vases- connecting them into a wonderful trio of vases- that you can use for flower arranging… You’ll see this in the video- and I’m sure you’ll come up with some vases you want to tie together. I used Pussy willow for this trio- you could use any type of branches for yours.
I filled the vases with Flower Food Water- and then we’re using only two types of Flowers/Foliage- I’m using berried Viburnum- one of my favorites… it’s so lovely! I use the Viburnum as the structure- and then we’ll add a full bunch of David Austin® “Tess” roses… that’s 10 stems- and I got them from our Friends at www.GardenRosesDirect.com – These roses are a deep magenta color- and match the viburnum berries perfectly- these roses are super long lasting- and they open to a flat platter… AND the best News is they are super fragrant… like Most David Austin® roses…
This is a fun project- that you can create- and use over and over again… for a centerpiece or table divider- or to Beautify any room- with Flowers and Fragrance… Enjoy!
