This week on Behind The Bloom Podcast, we’re revisiting Life In Bloom Episode 102 —
Protea- Long Term Beauty  and I have to say, it’s still one of my favorites!
This episode is all about one of the most fascinating flowers on the planet — the Protea. I’ll be sharing what this flower means to me, and why it’s truly unlike any other.
Prehistoric, unique, and dating back nearly 300 million years — Protea are living history in bloom.
Nature never ceases to amaze me.
We’ll go behind the scenes of my visit to Resendiz Brothers Protea Farm in Fallbrook, CA.
I’ll share what it was like to film on location there,
the excitement of seeing the fields in full bloom,
and how I first connected with Mel Resendiz and his extraordinary farm.
It was a shoot full of inspiration!
I also teamed up with my friend and artist Jennifer Ackerman Heywood for some Protea block printing — and yes, I had a little mishap with the printing press, but we had a lot of laughs along the way!
And of course, there’s the Flower Crown segment —
Jennifer and I both got crowned, and let’s just say things got a little playful.
The high-five at the end is still one of my favorite moments!
We’ll wrap it all up by talking about why Protea are such a fan favorite —
they’re long-lasting, versatile, and truly extraordinary.
