In this week’s At Home with Flowers Free Video on uBloom- I’m creating a Vase inside a Vase Citrus Sorbet Bouquet. I’ve shared you before on Fun with Flowers- how you can place a vase inside another vase- and then fill that space between the vases with other items of interest. It can be filled with Candy or Coffee Beans – like we did in Life in Bloom Episode #308- Coffee Tea or Flowers- Watch that episode here!
I was visiting Michaels Craft Store the other day and ran across this cool vase- that is actually two vases glued together… that allows you make an arrangement like this super easily! These vases are already affixed to one another- so it makes it super easy… there are so many possibilities- Candy Hearts, Your Kids Artwork- a Fun picture- Colored Sand, Seed Pods… the ideas are endless.
Today I wanted to create a Citrus inspired Filling for my bouquet-
You may have seen inspired vases like this on Pinterest or Social Media- with cut lemons, limes or oranges down inside a vase- and then flowers out the top. That is where a vase in a vase comes in handy- you might think that the fruit is just submerged inside the vase- but there are two important things… Fruit Floats- so have it in water will only drive it to the top and the slices will fall out of the vase… PLUS – there is too much citric acid in Fruit- and it’s bad for the flowers- so the Vase in a Vase is super helpful. You can line the vase with the fruit slices… and then arrange the flowers inside the vase in the center- and you keep the fruit away from the flowers- and there’s no need to submerge the fruit slices in water… Viola… the perfect Solution.
Today I’m using a Bouquet from our Friends at The Elite Flower- they are very supportive of Life in Bloom- and have been instrumental in helping Fund Life in Bloom – through their partnership with Albertsons Companies… This bouquet is a myriad of Yellow Colors- including Callas and Spray Roses- and one of my Favorites Standard Yellow Chrysanthemums.
I’ll use this bouquet as the base for this arrangement- it’s easy to pick up a bouquet like this- at your local grocer or flower seller- and it’s I’m going to personalize it just a bit more- by adding 3 different garden flowers- from my own garden… Yellow Rudbeckia, Orange Dahlias and Yellow Crocosmia… this adds some local interest to my bouquet… it’s a fun way to create a fragrant, Citrus Sorbet Feel for my Vase inside a Vase Bouquet… I hope you enjoy this fun twist with Fruit and Flowers- today on At Home with Flowers!
